Whew.....what a busy week!

What a busy week we have had, and it's not about to get any slower at the moment I don't think. The week was a busy one anyway and then we had a funeral as well today which meant extra preparation and all that goes along with it. An awesome opportunity to witness and spend time with people though. I really do like the ministry of a funeral, though it totally puts me right out of my comfort zone in talking to people, but it is an awesome time to show people the love of God and serve them at the same time.

I wonder......does any body actually read this, apart from my husband that is..........

February the 29th.................I just realised that this is a day that we only see every 4 years! And here it is..........YAY! Thank you God for each day you give to us...............

Anyways........I am thankful for;

1. An amazing God who always gives me strength to do what I cannot accomplish in my own strength.
2. A great team of people at church that helped out today.
3. A spa bath ~ especially for the sore feet!
4. Tasty crab meat for tea.......courtesy of one generous fisherman (even though my house smells from cooking them!)
5. An awesome husband who is soooooooooo gorgeous and who loves me!

After coming across this verse today I began to think about it a little. You know sometimes we can get ourselves all worked up over the most ridiculous things and let something that really wasn't a big deal ruin our day. It reminds me of the need to surround myself with people that encourage me, but also to be an encourager. Sometimes we are a little preoccupied with ourselves and what makes us feel happy, but I think that it is the wrong way of looking at things. Yes, I am important, but if I focus all on me, then what happens to everyone else. I guess what I really mean is that if we surround ourselves with God-fearing, loving people who offer good role models and less rubbish then that is what we will become ourselves. Busy, busy, busy...

Well, today has been quite a busy day. Started off with getting to the hall to let people in who were using the hall today and then ducking off for a quick much needed hair cut - yay! Then off to get the mail (drop home and hang a load of washing out), and get some groceries for the pantry at the church only to find that when I got to the cash register I did not have a signed cheque with me - cause we have to have two signatures. So then I had to rush back to the hall to get some cheques signed and then had a 10 minute time limit to get back to the supermarket and back to the hall for a Mission meeting. Mission meeting done, it was time to get home for a little lunch before we had to make some phone calls and visit someone in the hospital and pay a visit to some friends with whom I had to deliver a promised zucchini slice (which was really good - by the way, at least Colin enjoyed the other one that I made!) God is closer than you think..... part 1

In our small group over the last two weeks and heading into the next at least 5 weeks (depending on how long it takes to do each study..... this first session has taken us two weeks) we have been looking at the study "God is Closer Than You Think" by John Ortberg.... he also has a book of the same name. It has been encouraging to see the many ways through the Bible where God has been with His people, especially when they weren't expecting it. So, for the next few days I am going to do my homework on here as a blog each day. Hope that it works like that! The story of the Bible is the story of God's desire to be with people.
