Our God is Amazing...........

You know it's a good thing to come together and praise God and it's awful when things just don't go right! This morning at church, we had all sorts of dramas with the sound equipment and things just didn't sound right. People were quieter than usual and there was just something about the mood that didn't seem right. Colin stopped everything and we all prayed that our worship would not be hindered by what was happening and that God would reign in our midst as we worshipped Him. Exactly what we needed........God is victorious! You know I was talking about membership today in my sermon and what it means for us to be members of the church and it would have been great to see more people there for that, but that doesn't matter......God is in control!!!!!! And I just pray that I will never be a hindrance to the Kingdom of God.

Things to be thankful for:

1. An Amazing and Wonderful God!!!
2. Colin doing a lot of the cooking lately (yay!)
3. friends who are an absolute blessing
4. Answered prayer
5. Tamika taking on the responsibility for Sunday kid's church activities

Oh, and by the way..............it's very scary and somewhat disturbing to see your husband stand up the front of church wearing a long blond wig........and with no prior warning for me.........Lol....... I need more notice than that to prepare for the embarrasment! (will provide a photo at a later stage when I get it from Tamika)

After coming across this verse today I began to think about it a little. You know sometimes we can get ourselves all worked up over the most ridiculous things and let something that really wasn't a big deal ruin our day. It reminds me of the need to surround myself with people that encourage me, but also to be an encourager. Sometimes we are a little preoccupied with ourselves and what makes us feel happy, but I think that it is the wrong way of looking at things. Yes, I am important, but if I focus all on me, then what happens to everyone else. I guess what I really mean is that if we surround ourselves with God-fearing, loving people who offer good role models and less rubbish then that is what we will become ourselves. Iron sharpens iron......how we act, speak and encourage or influence can really affect others, and if we want to be sharp for God then we really have to be mindful of everything that we do, think and say all the time. Busy, busy, busy...

Well, today has been quite a busy day. Started off with getting to the hall to let people in who were using the hall today and then ducking off for a quick much needed hair cut - yay! Then off to get the mail (drop home and hang a load of washing out), and get some groceries for the pantry at the church only to find that when I got to the cash register I did not have a signed cheque with me - cause we have to have two signatures. So then I had to rush back to the hall to get some cheques signed and then had a 10 minute time limit to get back to the supermarket and back to the hall for a Mission meeting. Mission meeting done, it was time to get home for a little lunch before we had to make some phone calls and visit someone in the hospital and pay a visit to some friends with whom I had to deliver a promised zucchini slice (which was really good - by the way, at least Colin enjoyed the other one that I made!) God is closer than you think..... part 1

In our small group over the last two weeks and heading into the next at least 5 weeks (depending on how long it takes to do each study..... this first session has taken us two weeks) we have been looking at the study "God is Closer Than You Think" by John Ortberg.... he also has a book of the same name. It has been encouraging to see the many ways through the Bible where God has been with His people, especially when they weren't expecting it. So, for the next few days I am going to do my homework on here as a blog each day. Hope that it works like that! The story of the Bible is the story of God's desire to be with people. He is determined that each of uys be His friend, His companion, and His dwelling place. He is stretching out to reach us and fill our lives with His presence.
