A harpist???................

Image
In one of my readings this week I found a little part of a story..........it's in 2 Kings Chaper 3 and here I see that Elisha calls on the help of a harpist. When I first read that I thought how odd it was to see that right in the middle of the reading Elisha just says “now bring me a harpist”, but just after that it says, “while the harpist was playing. The hand of the Lord came upon Elisha and he said.........” It was the music of the harpist that bought Elisha to a place of worship and to a place where He met with God. Music is a very powerful medium for us in worship, but it can help us to worship God or it can also hinder our worship. I guess the key for me is to not let the music take over the place of God, but to allow it to help me come to the place of worship. There is a great power in music when it is used to praise God. We see this even today, It still opens the doors to anointing, a term we use to describe the coming of the Holy Spirit into a situation and His resting u

Fingerprints of God................

I was reflecting last night over the ways and times that God has been in my life perhaps even when I haven't known that it was Him or when I didn't think He was there or even doing anything. I think it is kind of like God leaving His fingerprint on us, and sometimes we can't even begin to see them until we are on the other side of a problem or situation that we're in. Also I was thinking about the fact that sometimes we can't see those fingerprints ourselves and it takes the words of a good friend to help us to see them. Ever since I thought about that I have had a song going around in my head of Steven Curtis Chapman's called "Fingerprints of God", these are the words of the chorus; I can see the fingerprints of God When I look at you I can see the fingerprints of God And I know it’s true You’re a masterpiece That all creation quietly applauds And you’re covered with the fingerprints of God So, that's the random.......or perhaps not quite so r

In the fire............

It seems like a long time since I've blogged and a lot has gone on in that time. What an odd title for a blog, I know, but God speaks to us through many different ways and today it was through an email. We frequently get emails from someone who prays for us and they just have a verse and a thought or quote and todays had a great message for me. “Wasn’t it three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, O King.” “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire unbound and unharmed. . ." (Daniel 3: 24 - 25) As sure as God ever puts his children in the furnace, he will be in the furnace with them. (Charles Spurgeon) I kind of feel like I have been thrown into the furnace so to speak, in the sense that everything is new and I don't know what I am doing, and whether or not I will be able to do what I need to do. But I am reassurred that God is right here with me and He will see me through, and that the God who has called me to do this work for Hi
