The unhurried life.............

Doesn't it seem like there is never enough hours in the day and everything is so busy. Came across this devotion in an email today and it really spoke to me. An Unhurried Life Glynnis Whitwer “Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, ‘Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!’ The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, ‘Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!’ Jesus stopped and called them. ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ he asked.” Matthew 20:30-32 (NIV) Devotion: I am drawn to un-hurried people. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm the opposite - and wish I was more like them.Unhurried moms take the time to explain to their kids where they are going. Hurried moms tell their children to get in the car and they'll find out soon. I think the children of the unhurried mom learned a bit more about their city, streets and addresses.Unhurried women take time to ch...

Be inspiring...............

Well, I mean to blog a little more than I do, but time just keeps ticking away and there are never enough hours in the day. Even as I write this it is 11:17pm on a Saturday night and I know that I must get to bed soon in order to be in any sort of shape for church tomorrow ~ Sunday ~ one of my favourite days of the week. Anyway, last night we had a ministry leaders meeting and we watched a dvd of Bill Hybels talking about being inspiring in leadership and I wanted to just share some of that here. 10 things that we can do to be inspiring leaders (or generally just inspiring Christian people) 1. Stay clear about your calling from God. Seek Him often about what your mission is. You can withstand almost anything that comes your way if that is clear. 2. Make sure that you are using your spiritual gifts the way that God gave them to you ~ that is, find out what they are and in what order and minister in that order 3. Make sure that you surround yourself with inspiring people. This means ...

Serve one another..........

Read this great thought this week, just thought I would share it................ Serve One Another by Max Lucado Jesus "set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn't claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death--and the worst kind of death at that: a crucifixion" (Phil. 2:7--8 MSG). Let's follow his example. Let's "put on the apron of humility, to serve one another" (1 Pet. 5:5 TEV). Jesus entered the world to serve. We can enter our jobs, our homes, our churches. Servanthood requires no unique skill or seminary degree. Regardless of your strengths, training, or church tenure, you can ... Love the overlooked. Jesus sits in your classroom, wearing the thick glasses, outdated clothing, and a sad face. You've seen him. He's Jesus. Jesus works in your office....

Pictures as promised..........even though they are late!

Image
I know that I promised some pictures a few days ago, but well.......I did have good intentions! So here they are............... Colin as Grandpa Joe, telling the children stories about Jesus. Me leading the singing with some of the children. It was a great day, and we were very happy with seeing the families that came along to share in our time together. What a great testimony to what God is doing in the lives of our kids. Til next time.............Blessings...........Love Kylie XXX

Jesus is no fairytale!!!

Today we had a blast at church with a Kid's Sunday celebration with the theme of "Jesus is no fairytale". We have been learning about stories of Jesus and the basic aim of today was to talk about the fact that the stories that we read in the Bible about Jesus are 100% true, unlike fairytales and other stories that we read or watch on tv. Colin (or should I say Grandpa Joe?) did an awesome job of condensing the Bible.......well....the New Testament anyway, into three short segments and most of the children were interested the whole way through.........which is a feat all in itself. We had a great lot of kids come which was really exciting and I think it was a good atmosphere and time of worship in a different way. I hope to have some photos that I can put up here tomorrow which will be good. Anyway, after a very busy week, it's time for school holidays which means that it is a little bit quieter for us, only a little... and hopefully we can get some admin done tha...

Devotion on Doubt..............

Here is a devotion that I got sent by email today and I thought that I would share it here. Doubt Your Doubts Mary Southerland Today's Truth Hebrews 11:1 Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Friend to Friend Billy Graham once said, "Most of us do not understand nuclear fission, but we accept it. I don't understand television, but I accept it. I don't understand radio, but every week my voice goes out around the world, and I accept it. Why is it so easy to accept all these man-made miracles and so difficult to accept the miracles of the Bible?" Faith is a personal issue and often demands that we give up what we can see for what we cannot see, but just because we can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there. Let me share some ways to weaken your doubts and strengthen your faith: Read the bible consistently. Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. You may have heard the familiar Old Chinese sa...
