Be inspiring...............
Well, I mean to blog a little more than I do, but time just keeps ticking away and there are never enough hours in the day. Even as I write this it is 11:17pm on a Saturday night and I know that I must get to bed soon in order to be in any sort of shape for church tomorrow ~ Sunday ~ one of my favourite days of the week.
Anyway, last night we had a ministry leaders meeting and we watched a dvd of Bill Hybels talking about being inspiring in leadership and I wanted to just share some of that here.
10 things that we can do to be inspiring leaders (or generally just inspiring Christian people)
1. Stay clear about your calling from God. Seek Him often about what your mission is. You can withstand almost anything that comes your way if that is clear.
2. Make sure that you are using your spiritual gifts the way that God gave them to you ~ that is, find out what they are and in what order and minister in that order
3. Make sure that you surround yourself with inspiring people. This means that the people who you surround yourself with should be positive people, not negative.
4. Read inspirational books. What kind of books are you reading? Are they motivating you?
5. Hang out with exceptionally inspiring people. You know the kind of people, take the initiative and surround yourself with those who just give you a boost even by just saying hello to them. (Colin explained this one by saying that there is one guy in The Salvation Army that he has been in contact with that if he sees him, even if he only gets the chance to say a brief hello, he feels inspired and motivated)
6. Take part in exceptionally inspiring events. What events do we need to be in that inspire us? Are there any conferences that you would like to go to that would boost you up? ~ do it. Does going to the footy give you inspirational energy?
7. Stay healthy. Pat attention to physical disciplines. Bill said that you can increase your productivity by up to 40% by becoming a healthier person.
8. Pay attention to your working environment. Your workspace can add or detract from your inspiration. Putting up posters, words, verses, pictures, etc. in your workspace to inspire and motivate you.
9. Take part in ispiring recreation apart from church. Something that you love to do, outside of your work will help to be energised. God recreates energy and life spirit when we do the things that we love.
10. Practice daily spiritual disciplines. Reading the Bible, prayer, daily quiet times with God are all necessary to keep us on the right track, and inspired for the tasks that God calls us to daily.
(Summarised from Global Leadership Summit 2008, "Whatever you do....inspire me" Bill Hybels)
Hope that you get as much out of this as I have................
