Wow.....how quickly the days go by.....

Well, so much for blogging every day, good intentions, but not so good in practice. So far this week we have had 2 days of holiday program and it has been wonderful. We have had 26 kids come on both days which has been a great thing to see, 5 of the kids today were different ones so all together we have seen 31 kids ~ YAY! One of the parents today were asking about Sunday School which is good too, I just pray that it will really take off this year and that God will provide all that we need to do that.

Last night we had a Gilmore Girls marathon, we being Tamika, Annelise and I, Tamika and I started at about 7.30pm and then Annelise joined us at about 10.30pm as she had to work. In all we only got to watch about 9 episodes and Annelise watched an extra two after I went to bed. Tamika only saw 7 as she had a late night the night before and was feeling very tired and sleepy.

Only about 6 sleeps until we are on holidays which will be great.....can't wait! Even though I looooove this place, I am so looking forward to this time off. We have only had two weeks in the last year, though we have been away for a few conferences and all of that kind of stuff.....it's funny that every time we go anywhere people here assume that we are going on holiday....I WISH!! And.....only two weeks to go til Chell's wedding.........very exciting!!! Can't wait!

So.....what am I thankful for today?......

1. God's amazing grace

2. electricity on a hot day

3. great leaders at JAM

4. a great bunch of kids to work with at JAM

5. good friend who lend me some great holiday reading material

Well......some days it's a hard task, but it wasn't too bad today! Praise God!

I think it's time to go and get some work done......

After coming across this verse today I began to think about it a little. You know sometimes we can get ourselves all worked up over the most ridiculous things and let something that really wasn't a big deal ruin our day. It reminds me of the need to surround myself with people that encourage me, but also to be an encourager. Sometimes we are a little preoccupied with ourselves and what makes us feel happy, but I think that it is the wrong way of looking at things. Yes, I am important, but if I focus all on me, then what happens to everyone else. I guess what I really mean is that if we surround ourselves with God-fearing, loving people who offer good role models and less rubbish then that is what we will become ourselves. Iron sharpens iron......how we act, speak and encourage or influence can really affect others, and if we want to be sharp for God then we really have to be mindful of everything that we do, think and say all the time. Busy, busy, busy...

Well, today has been quite a busy day. Started off with getting to the hall to let people in who were using the hall today and then ducking off for a quick much needed hair cut - yay! Then off to get the mail (drop home and hang a load of washing out), and get some groceries for the pantry at the church only to find that when I got to the cash register I did not have a signed cheque with me - cause we have to have two signatures. So then I had to rush back to the hall to get some cheques signed and then had a 10 minute time limit to get back to the supermarket and back to the hall for a Mission meeting. Mission meeting done, it was time to get home for a little lunch before we had to make some phone calls and visit someone in the hospital and pay a visit to some friends with whom I had to deliver a promised zucchini slice (which was really good - by the way, at least Colin enjoyed the other one that I made!) God is closer than you think..... part 1

In our small group over the last two weeks and heading into the next at least 5 weeks (depending on how long it takes to do each study..... this first session has taken us two weeks) we have been looking at the study "God is Closer Than You Think" by John Ortberg.... he also has a book of the same name. It has been encouraging to see the many ways through the Bible where God has been with His people, especially when they weren't expecting it. So, for the next few days I am going to do my homework on here as a blog each day. Hope that it works like that! The story of the Bible is the story of God's desire to be with people. He is determined that each of uys be His friend, His companion, and His dwelling place. He is stretching out to reach us and fill our lives with His presence.
